I found this very odd since i have owned the car since 2007. when I contacted the state DMV they were surprised as well and offered to refute this incorrect information. Considering that my Insurance agent may be able to be of assistance, i called them. They were surprised and began to reach out to their home office to see what resources they could bring to bear to correct this mistake. For the dealer I was in negotiation with, Southern Lincoln-Kia Lynnhaven, it did not matter. They took CarFax's information as factual and would not entertain any sort of discussion on my vehicle. I offered to have them contact the state DMV and fax a copy of my clear vehicle title all to no avail.. The only way I was going to make a deal on their car was to buy it outright. As a result, I am pulling back on buying anything from this dealer, my car has no apparent value until I can get CarFax to correct their information, and I have filed a request for correction with CarFax. Its anyone's guess how long CarFax will take to correct this issue. With that in mind, I have alerted my Attorney as this has my ability to engage in commerce hindered.
